DOW BONDS

For more than 32 years, I've practiced law in courtrooms across Georgia, first as a solo practitioner, then as a prosecutor, and later as a criminal defense attorney in federal court. But long before that, I was a kid growing up in Natchez, Mississippi, surrounded by family, stories, and people whose influence has stayed with me throughout my life. My years at Ole Miss and the many friendships I've made along the way have only added to those experiences.
Somewhere along the way, I began to wonder whether I could take a lifetime of memories, observations, and experiences and turn them into a story worth telling.
Slip 47 is a work of fiction, a legal thriller about family, secrets, and the long reach of the past. But the places, personalities, and experiences that helped inspire it are very real to me.
I didn't write this book expecting to become the next John Grisham or Greg Iles. I wrote it because I had a story I wanted to tell, and I hoped that somewhere along the way, someone else might find something in it worth remembering. I also have a new appreciation for how difficult writing a novel is.
To all the friends I've made from Natchez to Oxford, Vail, Lansing, Atlanta, Tifton, Savannah, and everywhere in between, I hope you'll give it a chance.
And if you do, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
